Located at 1236 Birchmount Road in Toronto (main intersection Birchmount Road & Lawrence Avenue East,) Birchmount Green features 220 high quality, purpose built, affordable and supportive housing suites with funding by the City of Toronto and assistance from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.
We offer 1 and 2 bedroom apartments including barrier free options to provide security, dignity and stability of housing for singles, couples, seniors, families and people with various types of disabilities. There is no smoking on the property. 93 units will be filled through community not-for-profit housing partners
Many features have been incorporated to help provide our residents with a welcoming and helpful environment that promotes healthy, social and active living. These include a large amenity room with access to outdoor greenery and barbecues, an accessible rooftop garden, a library, an indoor and outdoor children's play area, bicycle storage, two offices for support service organizations and an in-house coffee shop..
The property is serviced by excellent surface transport by the TTC, with the closest bus stop about 90 meters away arriving every 6-8 minutes. Parking is available.
To be eligible for these units:
All tenants must have Status in Canada. Each member of the household is:

A Canadian Citizen, or

A Permanent Resident of Canada who has applied for permanent resident status, or
-
A refugee claimant of Convention Refugee
At initial occupancy, each household must have income that does not exceed four times the annual equivalent of the monthly Occupancy Cost for the unit.

Occupancy Standards - The household must include a minimum of one person, per bedroom, and couples must share a bedroom. No more than 2 persons per bedroom. Applicants applying for an accessible unit will be required to submit a medical request for barrier-free unit form.
Please note that duplicate registrations from the same family or person are not permitted, and could result in removal from the list.
The deadline for registration is March 31 at 5 pm EST. All registrant names will be included in a random draw process. Registrants that are selected from the random draw will be contacted for the unit they qualify for. Only registrants that are selected as part of the random draw process and qualify for a unit will be sent an electronic application form to fill out which must be completed in 3 days. Registrants are encouraged to have all the documentation listed below available (including 2021 Notice of Assessment and Proof of Status in Canada identification). Once all of the units are allocated, the registration website will be updated to indicate that the process has been completed.

On successful submission of your registration, your household will receive an email notification confirming receipt.
